In 2015, Mirjam Zünd, the creative force behind die raummacher, faced a unique challenge: she wanted to build a digital presence that truly reflected her decades of experience as a designer, artist, and interior architect. Her creative process was deeply rooted in tactile experiences—mood boards, material samples, and carefully curated compositions. The challenge was to translate this sensory experience into a seamless digital format without losing its essence.
From the start, it was clear that a standard solution wouldn’t work. No WordPress, no templates. The website needed to be as unique as her work—intuitive, minimalistic, and expressive. At the same time, it had to be easy to manage, allowing her to update and add content effortlessly.
At that time, Webflow’s CMS was still in its infancy. Despite this, I chose it for my very first Webflow project. Why? Because Webflow struck the perfect balance between design flexibility and user-friendly content management. It allowed for real-time text editing directly on the site—an essential feature for someone new to digital tools.
Even with Webflow, I had to program many features from scratch. The platform was still evolving, and many functions that are now standard didn’t exist yet. But that made the project all the more exciting: I could combine coding and design to create a platform that seamlessly extended Mirjam Zünd’s analog creative world into the digital space.
The final website for die raummacher is more than just a portfolio. It’s a digital translation of Mirjam Zünd’s artistic language—a platform that inspires, captivates, and remains highly functional.
This project taught me that the best digital solutions come from deeply understanding the client’s vision. It’s not just about technology—it’s about building digital bridges with the same dedication a designer puts into their physical materials.
